The Shavertown Volunteer Fire Department has as part of our mission the goal for providing the best and most up-to-date service to the residences and businesses of Shavertown. What makes this difficult at times is responding to emergencies whether fire or medical in locked facilities with no available key holder to allow us rapid entry. In order for us to access buildings quickly, minimize forced entry damage, and protect firefighters from injury, the Shavertown Volunteer Fire Department has adopted the Knox-Box Rapid Entry System community wide. Currently more than ten thousand fire departments across the nation and the communities they serve enjoy the benefits of this proven system.
Knox-Boxes are constructed of ¼” solid steel housing with a ½” solid plate steel door and reinforced locking mechanism. They are UL listed against physical attack and the Medeco Security lock is patented and UL listed for drill, pick and pull resistance. The master key to open the Know-Box is held and controlled ONLY by the Shavertown Volunteer Fire Department. This high security key is strictly controlled and is produced ONLY by the Medeco factory under direction from an authorized fire official’s signature. While Knox-Boxes are recommended by the Shavertown Volunteer Fire Department they are purchased directly from the Knox Company. Once installed near the entrance to your property, the fire department locks your building entrance key inside the Knox-Box so that it is available on site for future emergencies.
To purchase Knox Box for your home or business go to On-Line Purchases. It will prompt you for your zip code (18708) and select a Fire Department. Select the Shavertown Volunteer Fire Department (ONLY IF YOUR LOCATION IS IN THE SFD FIRST DUE AREA).
